Noble Horizons and The Scoville Memorial Library invite you to enjoy an evening full of laughter with retired television news anchor and reporter Bill Littauer who will interview attorney Tom Morrison who capped his 50-year legal career with the book, Torts R Us, a ‘wickedly funny satire’ of two brothers/lawyers whose overly zealous legal exploits will have you laughing out loud.
Morrison is a graduate of New York University Law School where he was a Root-Tilden Scholar. After four years of active duty as a legal officer in the United States Air Force, Morrison joined the New York City law firm Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler where he tried cases and argued appeals throughout the country. Described as the “dean of false advertising litigation,” Morrison helped Patterson Belknap pioneer the field of false advertising, whereby national advertisers can sue their competitors for advertising that is false or unsubstantiated. Many of his cases have become landmarks.
Believing there is much humor to be found in modern litigation, Morrison has written a legal farce that captures some of the humor and absurdity in modern litigation, particularly class action litigation. All of the cases that appear in the book have their genesis in actual court cases although the farcical courtroom testimony, dialogue and antics that appear throughout the book will not be found in any official reports in the annals of justice.
Bill Littauer had a 50-year career in broadcast news as a reporter, producer, executive producer and manager in Baltimore, Washington and New York. Both men live in Salisbury, CT where they are active in non-profit organizations throughout their community.
