This two-part series will cover important topics for all business owners or those considering starting their own business. 

 

The first evening will cover how to select the best legal entity for your business, as well as the tax and liability implications of the entity selection.  We will also discuss the steps needed to register your business or change its existing legal structure, and what types of taxes (beyond income tax) any business may be subject to.

 

The second evening will focus on financing and organizational structure.  We will have an introduction to financial statements analysis and why they play an important role in any business.  We will also discuss record keeping options and strategies, as well a

s an overview of banking and insurance needs for the small business.

 

Roberts is a highly qualified tax professional with over twenty years of experience representing clients before federal and state tax agencies.  In her comprehensive tax practice, Kris concentrates on the special tax preparation and consulting needs of “s” and “c” corporations, multi-state entities, as well as limited liability companies, partnerships, and fiduciary entities.  She has extensive experience assisting clients with tax audits, offers in compromise, bankruptcy, individual tax planning, payroll taxes, and amended returns.      

 

She is a trainer in organization development guiding  organizations in managing change, leadership development and human relations training.   She designs and institutes classroom teaching in tax compliance, tax planning, business management, and computerized financial software.

 

A doctoral research student at University of Phoenix  she is completing her work on her Doctorate of Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurial studies. In 2003, she earned her Enrolled Agent (EA) license. Roberts is the Assistant Academic Program Manager of the Accounting Department at Post University’s Malcolm Balridge School of Business.
