Happy New Year: 新年快乐 (xīn nián kuài lè)
A learning adventure and a celebration for kids from 5-12.
Come to find out your Chinese Zodiac (Sheng Xiao) animal.
Are you a dragon…. or a rat?
This will be a full morning! We will read the Chinese zodiac story and hear about the Nian (New Year) monster. We will try the lion dance. There will be a chopsticks competition and a “deliver the ping pong ball” competition for prizes. Children can make a Chinese red lantern and create a Chinese ink blowing painting of plum blossoms (in Chinese culture the plum blossom is considered a “friend of winter” and represents endurance.) In addition we will practice Chinese calligraphy, consume Chinese candy, kumquats and fortune cookies.
