November is Native American Heritage month. We have have a special Native American “Thanks Giving” program for children and families with Fidel Moreno, a Native American cultural facilitator and water protector who went to Standing Rock last fall.
Fidel will share Native American teachings and various tribal traditions around gratitude with singalongs and a friendship dance. He will perform a special Native American water blessing prayer and share stories about giving thanks for what we have, i,e. parents, grandparents, homes, food, siblings, school/education, good health, happiness and food that nourishes our bodies and minds. Moreno will also assist children and families with building a small tipi (inside the library children’s area) and an art project.
