Leslie Elias, director of the Grumbling Gryphons, and co-founder Vanessa Roe have adapted this ancient Greek myth of Persephone and Demeter into a highly imaginative and entertaining show for family audiences, with audience participation as an essential part. Actors will enact this ancient myth with the help of the audience taking part as The Greek Chorus.
The Grumbling Gryphons are winners of the Connecticut Governor’s Arts Award and are well known for their fantastic masks and captivating costumes, and for their joyful and innovative interaction with children. Now celebrating their 37th year, they have toured theaters, schools, festivals, libraries, and museums since 1980, performing in such places as Lincoln Center and the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
