Take Your Child to the Library Day (TYCLD) is an international initiative launched in 2011, that encourages families everywhere to take their children to their local library.
Join us outside around the “bonfire” and be transported by the power of good stories. Long before the written word, communities gathered together to share stories.
Starting off the event at 12 noon, Chris Wiltshire of Flying Deer Nature Center & Lakeville Hose Company’s Assistant Chief, Jason Wilson, will guide and instruct families on how to safely build, maintain, extinguish, and conduct oneself around fire.
At 1PM Leslie Elias, award-winning storyteller, Cornwall native and artistic director and cofounder of Grumbling Gryphons Traveling Children’s Theater will engage us all, kindling our imaginations in the telling of the animal trickster tale Coyote Shares the Fire (45 min.)
Come by and stay for the whole day or drop in for warmth and a story. Wear warm clothing, bring blankets, chairs, and hot beverages. We look forward to seeing you here and building this tradition together!
