Program Description

Event Details

Join Mike Harney of Harney & Sons Fine Teas to explore the intertwined histories of tea, global colonization, and resistance that sparked the American Revolution.

We’ll also hear about Salisbury’s tea connections and what it's like to run a tea business today.

Then we’ll commemorate the anniversary of Paul Revere’s ride with a special tasting of Harney teas.

Mike Harney is VP of Harney & Sons Fine Teas and son of founder John Harney and president Elyse Harney. An avid traveler, he journeys regularly to regions where Harney tea is sourced and particularly favors Darjeeling teas, light oolongs, and teas that come with a strong personal connection. Founded in Salisbury in 1983, Harney & Sons Fine Teas is now located in Millerton, NY.

This Taste of the Revolution is part of Salisbury READS, an annual collaborative project that encourages the entire community to read a selected book together and engage in discussions and related programs. Salisbury READS is presented in partnership by the Scoville Library, the Salisbury Association, the Troutbeck Symposium, and the Salisbury Forum, in connection with Salisbury Commemoration 250 and CT 250.
